The Efficacy of Salicin

Salicin is an anti-inflammatory agent made from willow bark that is metabolized by the body to produce salicylic acid. According to Wikipedia, it is similar in nature to aspirin and is traditionally used to heal wounds and calm joint and muscle pain. Although the conversion of salicin to salicylic acid in the human body requires enzymes, topical salicin also works because it has anti-inflammatory properties similar to aspirin and is used to treat acne and other skin irritations. It is wise to choose China Active Salicin. We are Active Salicin Factory; Active Salicin Manufacturer; Active Salicin Factories.

1. Treatment of fever, cold and infection

As a “natural aspirin”, salicin is used to treat minor fevers, colds, infections (influenza), acute and chronic rheumatic discomfort, headaches and pain due to inflammation. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), a synthetic substitute for salicin, has potentially dangerous side effects on the stomach and intestines. As its natural configuration, salicin passes harmlessly through the gastrointestinal system and is converted to salicylic acid in the blood and liver. The conversion process takes several hours, so the results are not immediately felt by the body, but the effects generally last for several hours.

2. Reduce arthritis pain and low back pain

Salicin is believed to be the source of white willow bark’s anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving abilities. The pain-relieving power of white willow bark is usually slower to take effect but lasts longer than the effects of common aspirin products. One trial found that a class of herbal compound products containing 100 ng of salicin were effective in improving pain relief in patients with arthritis after two months of continuous administration. Another trial found that a daily intake of 1360 mg of willow bark extract (containing 240 mg of salicin) for two weeks was more effective in treating pain and/or arthritis in the joint area. The use of high doses of white willow bark extract may also help relieve low back pain. A four-week trial found that a 240 mg salicin extract of white willow bark was effective in reducing the worsening of low back pain.

3. Exfoliating the skin and improving skin texture

In a patent entitled “Use of salicin as an anti-irritant compound in cosmetic and topical skin preparations,” salicylic acid is considered “an effective ingredient in the control and prevention of so-called ‘tingling,’ and the use of Salicin can treat atopic dermatitis, skin irritation type I and IV, and the use of salicin can increase the irritation threshold of sensitive skin.” Salicin’s aspirin-like properties are also thought to be used to eliminate diaper rash, herpetic inflammation and sunburn at concentrations of about 5%.
